How is Planted Studio different from other online planting services?
Planted Studio is an Australian remote landscape design service. Every plan is reviewed and signed off by a Certified Horticulturalist (NZQA Level 3) with 10+ years of landscape practice. Species are selected from Australian horticultural sources for your specific climate zone, soil, and covenant rules — not a generic national template. Fixed pricing from $690 inc GST.
When would I use Planted Studio versus a traditional in-person designer?
Planted Studio is built for projects where a qualified remote design is enough — planting plans for existing beds, concept layouts from photos and a site plan, covenant-compliant designs for new builds. In-person landscape designers are the right call for complex sites that benefit from a walk-through — significant level changes, structural retaining, bespoke build-first projects. Our Plant Plans start at $690 inc GST; our Concept + Planting package is $2,690 inc GST.
Do I need a site plan or surveyor?
For Plant Plans: No. We just need to understand your garden beds — where they are, how big they are (measured in metres), and the growing conditions. You can send us photos of each bed and a sketch with measurements. If you have an existing site plan from your builder or architect, even better — that's the fastest path. See exactly what we need →
For Concept + Planting designs: Yes — we need a site plan to trace your spatial layout. These are usually available from your builder, council DA approval, or real estate listing. Not sure where to find one? Email us and we'll help.
What information do you need from me for a Plant Plan?
For each garden bed: (1) Photos from a couple of angles, (2) Approximate size — pace it out (1 big step ≈ 75cm) or use a tape measure, (3) Sun or shade — does it get morning sun, afternoon sun, full sun, or mostly shade? (4) Is it flat or sloped? (5) What's around it — fence, house wall, pathway, open lawn? Label your photos to match the bed names on your sketch so we can match everything up. We handle the rest — soil type, climate zone, drainage, and species selection are all things we research from your address.
What if I'm not happy with the design?
Every package includes a revision round. Tell us what to change and we'll update it. We want you to love the result — if something's not right, we'll work with you to fix it.
Do you cover my area?
We design for properties across all of Australia — Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Cairns, Darwin, and everywhere in between. All we need are your details, photos, and measurements. We research your soil type, climate zone, and rainfall from your address, then select species that thrive in your local conditions — no one-size-fits-all plant list.
Can I use this plan to get quotes from landscapers?
Absolutely — that's what it's designed for. Hand the PDF to any landscaper and they'll have everything they need: layout, species, quantities, and spacing. It's a proper design document, not a mood board.
What's the difference between a Plant Plan and a Concept?
A Plant Plan fills existing garden beds with the right plants — you already know where your beds are, we fill them beautifully. A Concept + Planting design creates the overall spatial layout from scratch — where the beds go, pathways, lawn, screening, entertaining areas — then fills them with plants. If your beds are already defined, you probably just need a Plant Plan.
How long does delivery take?
Plant Plans: 5 business days (48hr rush available for +$150 per property). Concept + Planting: 10 business days. We'll email you if we have any questions about your submission.
Do I need to be home or meet with anyone?
No. The entire process is online. You submit your details, we design, and deliver via email. No site visits, no phone calls, no meetings. Just great design, delivered to your inbox.
